Asif Ali al-Azhari was only two years old when he came to England and grew up in High Wycombe. At the age of 15, he was fortunate to be admitted to Jamia Al-Karam as part of the first five students in 1985, where he studied under Shaykh Muhammad Imdad Hussain Pirzada and Abu’l-In’am ‘Allama ‘Abd al-Bari. After graduating from Jamia Al-Karam, he went to the renowned institution Dar-al-‘Ulum al-Muhammadiyya al-Ghawthiyya (DMG Bhera). There he had the opportunity to study Islamic sciences including, jurisprudence, Qur’anic exegesis and hadith with prominent teachers. In addition, he was honoured to complete the intensive hadith literature course(dawra hadith) with Diya’ al-Ummat Justice Shaykh Muhammad Karam Shah al-Azhari (ra). Further studies led him to Al-Azhar University, Cairo, where he graduated with a BA (Hons) from the faculty of Theology. In 1994, upon his return from Egypt, he started teaching in Jamia Al-Karam, Milton Keynes. He gained his PGCE from Sheffield Hallam University a few years later. After serving as Head of Hostel for several years at Jamia Al-Karam in Retford, he is currently teaching ICT, Geography and Arabic at the same Institution.
