Zulfqar Pirzada al-Azhari

Zulfqar Haider Pirzada al-Azhari was born in Buckinghamshire’s historical town of High Wycombe in 1982. After successfully completing his GCSE’s in 1999, he began a rigorous study of traditional Islamic disciplines such as Arabic Grammar, Tafsir, Hadith, Fiqh, Tasawwuf, Classical Logic, Comparative Religious Studies, etc. These and other sciences were studied under the tutelage of Mufti Fazle Subhan al-Qadiri and Dr Bashir Ahmad Siddiqi (former head of Islamic Studies Department; the University of Punjab, Pakistan).

In 2002 he travelled to Egypt to pursue further studies at the historically celebrated centre of Islamic learning, the University of Al-Azhar, Cairo.  In 2004 he was awarded a BA (Hons) from the Faculty of Theology for specialising in Qur’an Exegesis at the University of Al-Azhar.  Upon his return from Egypt he began lecturing at Jamia Al-Karam.

In 2007 he enrolled for postgraduate studies at the University of Leeds, UK, and gained an MA in Applied Translation Studies (Arabic) in 2009.  He continues to serve Muslims through his meticulous teaching of Islamic sciences at Jamia Al-Karam (Retford, UK).
